Hot Star - Garden City

Hot Star is the famous Taiwanese fried chicken chain recently landed at Westfield Garden City. With my fried chicken craving at its near peak, I decided to line up to sample some deep fried offerings. A view of their digitally displayed menu revealed a primary focus on chicken with a few seafood and vegetable options. I am here for one reason: XL size “original fired chicken” so without hesitation, made my selection.

Original fried chicken: massive piece of fried chicken consist flatten down half bird breast meat with ribs. A fragrant pepper, sweet potato starch and chicken oil scent was present. First bite, revealed a crunchy medium thickness outer crust with a tender to near juicy centre. A very satisfying strong pepper and spice mix taste paired with near perfect balance of flavour (without any additional seasonings) made this the brilliant fried chicken to tame the cravings. 4/5

Hint: goodies are fried to order and require 10-15min to fulfil. Strongly recommend their original fried chicken. At the time of writing this review, each original fried chicken order comes with a free can of soft drink.
