Beccofino Pizzeria
Beccofino is a popular Italian restaurant recommended to me
by Espresso&Matcha .
With my pizza craving growing day by day, we decided to catch up with her to
see what the hype is all about. It was a weekday evening and the place was
nearly packed. After a quick wait, we were politely greeted and taken to one of
their last indoor table. A view of their menu revealed traditional Italian
offering with an extended pizza selection. Between the three of us, we ordered
Tartufo, Gamberi Piccanti, Speck pizzas and a single serve of Insalata di
Finocchio salad to keep mum happy ;-).
Tartufo: mozzarella, smoked bacon, portobello mushrooms, truffle paste and stracchino all on top of a thin hand stretched pizza base. The pizza presents strong truffle scent with hints of mushroom and bacon. Taking a slice allowed the stracchino to stretch and release delicate cheesy scent to make the pizza even more appetising. First bite and my eyes sparkled! Each and every ingredient complemented each other and supported the truffle to excite the palate. The thin pizza base was crispy, delicate and fragrant with a beautiful wood fire burnt crust. As an overall package: simply the best pizza I have ever had! Perfezione! 5/5

Gamberi Piccanti: contains tomato, mozzarella, tiger prawns, garlic, chilli, herbs, olive oil and rocket leaves again all on the beautifully hand stretched pizza base. The red sauce pizza showed a near perfect balance of flavour with delicate tomato and hints of chilli and garlic. Paired with the fresh, crunchy and very flavourful tiger prawns you have great pizza for the seafood lovers. The rockets on the other hand although refreshing, adds a bitterness which is not to everyone’s liking. 4/5
Speck: tomato, mozzarella, charred radicchio, provolone and smoked Prosciutto. The beautifully presented pizza showed decent wood fire burns on the outer crust with large slices of near melting paper thin prosciutto. First taste and I was blown away by the strong flavoured prosciutto and smoky radicchio taste. Mozzarella and provolone cheese combo did their magic to mellowing down the sharp flavours. As an overall package it’s a near perfect pizza experience which made Mrs Tomcat very excited. Bravo! 4.5/5

Insalata di Finocchio salad: fennel, witlof, bosc pear and walnuts all dressed with olive oil and dash of balsamic. The fresh crunchy fennel and witlof paired with sweet sliced pears adds much needed refreshment to the palate. Mixed with crunchy walnuts, you have a beautifully made salad great to complement the pizzas. 4/5

Service: for a very busy weekday dinner was attentive and friendly. Service with a smile you can’t go wrong with that. 4.5/5
Overall Ranking: 4.5/5
Hint: Focus on their pizza selections, Tartufo and Speck is a must try! They do not take bookings so come in early!
