Melt Brothers - Garden City
Melt Brothers is a new player in the
highly competitive Garden City dining scene. With the recent change in menu,
the Tomcat Family and Espresso&Matcha were invited to sample the offerings.
The clean and simply designed establishment houses a small dining area.
Upfront, a modern open counter in contrast with old school American neon themed
food collection window.
Melt Brothers simple and well thought out
menu were displayed in two LED screens. For a weekday dinner we ordered a good
selection of drinks, toasties and sides.
The Meltdown: sandwich contains dry
rubbed pulled pork, house made slaw, pickles, BBQ sauce & two cheeses
(Mozzarella & Cheddar). The decent sized goody was toasted to golden with
generous fillings. Pulling the sandwich apart reveals well melted stretchy
cheese with a fragrant cheesy scent. The pulled pork was tender, juicy with mild
spice and seasoning. Slaw, crunchy & moist, paired with the tangy BBQ sauce
and perfectly melted cheese; you have an awesome toastie for young and old. 4/5
Mi Goreng Crazy: Mi Goreng noodles,
roasted chicken, fried eggs, spring onions, Sriracha mayo & two cheeses (Mozzarella
& Cheddar). The again perfectly toasted sandwich contains generous amount
of fillings with stretchy cheese in the centre. Noodles were perfectly cooked and
surprisingly worked well with cheddar and roast chicken. Fried eggs, Sriracha
mayo and spring onions add an Asian fusion and unique character to this toastie.
A great creation no doubt! 4/5
Royale with Cheese: beef patties, onions,
pickles, American cheese, ketchup and mustard. The fragrant scent from this
sandwich resembles an American cheese burger. Biting into the delicious goodie
reveals strong beefy and pickle taste with full flavoured melted cheese. Paired
with classic ketchup and mustard combo, you have a heavy hitter for the burger
lovers. If only the quality of the beef patties can be improved…3.5/5
Morning Glory: breakfast sandwich with
maple bacon, fried eggs, Sriracha mayo and two cheeses (Mozzarella &
Cheddar). The well toasted goody contained large amount of stretchy melted
cheese and was an absolute delight to pull apart. First taste and my whole mouth
were filled with strong maple and bacon flavours with hints of Sriracha mayo.
Each ingredient complemented each other and made the bacon shine. A Canadian
brekkie sandwich with an Asian twist this is. Bravo! 4.5/5
Loaded Tater Tots: topped with cheese
sauce bacon bites and spring onion to garnish. The vibrantly coloured cup of
goodies was fried to order with a fragrantly cheesy scent. The tater tots
present a crispy coating with a soft and mushy centre. Paired with an addictive
Mexican spiced cheese sauce and meaty bacon bites, you have a must order to complete
the toastie experience. Simply Awesome! 4.5/5
Dem Bun: a dessert sandwich containing
vanilla ice cream, nutella and rainbow sprinkles all held together by freshly
toasted bun. The colourful dessert presents an interesting contrast between the
frozen ice cream and the freshly toasted bun. Strong Nutella and vanilla ice
cream overwhelms the palate with a hint of buttery taste from the bun. For the
sweet treat lovers! 3.5/5
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at
Melt Brothers. A big shout out to Felix and Justin for making this happen.
Hint: Order tarter tots with your
sandwich!
